Dear Blog-ary: Last Class of This Training Session . . But, I’ll Be Back!

Dear Blogary,

It's hard to believe that this will be my last post for our six-week Fall Bootcamp Training Session. Last night's work out was bittersweet. There's always a huge sense of accomplishment that I feel after completing a session. I enjoy our little group and will miss seeing them and hearing about their lives every Tuesday and Thursday evening. Hopefully some of them will continue on over the winter, or maybe I'll see them again in the spring!

Dear Blog-ary: Time Flies When You Workout!

Dear Bolg-ary,

I can hardly believe that next class will be our final work out in this six week session. In some ways, time has flown by. But, on the other hand, I feel that I've accomplished so much.
Cold weather workouts go unquestioned when evenings are as beautiful as it was last night. It was a clear Autumn evening and the air was crisp and fresh. As I made my rounds through our upper body Tabata workout at Mount Doug Park, I gratefully filled my lungs with the clean ocean air. As much as I enjoy the warmth and security of a heated building on a cold autumn evening, I look forward to getting out of the house and into the elements for a workout. Maybe it's because I'm an Autumn baby, but Fall is by far my favourite season to be outdoors!

Dear Blog-ary: This Training IS Hard Core!

Dear Blog-ary,

I was feeling pretty optimistic about the weather on Thursday afternoon before class. The clouds had parted slightly around 4:30pm and the rain was holding off. Just to be sure I was prepared for anything, I thoughtfully wrapped my feet in bread bags before slipping them into my shoes, to keep them from getting wet in case of a down pour. As I ran out the door I found that my optimism was not enough to save me from what the forecast had in store. The rain was coming down hard!

Dear Blog-ary: It’s All About Strength And Balance

Dear Blog-ary,

Last night's Core and More session was all about strength and balance. After our warm up and tech drills, we gathered on the field behind the parking lot. Loreli gave us a run through of all the stations we were going to be focusing on that night. Instead of working on our own, we were partnered up. Every station required two people. It added a fun dynamic to work alongside someone else.

Dear Blog-ary: I did it! My 1st Ever 5K Fun Run!

Dear Blog-ary,

To avoid disappointment, I had prepared myself to expect the worst kind of weather for Sunday mornings 5K Salmon Run. When I awoke to find a downpour, it was of little consequence to me.  As I prepared my pre-race breakfast of steel cut oats, apples and almond milk, I began to feel a nervous excitement. I was about to participate in my first race ever! I wasn't about to let rain stop me from enjoying every part of this experience.
