Recipe – Cashew Cream

Cashew CreamSo simple, but simply delicious!  This fabulous cream recipe is very versatile.  We've had people use it as cream in their coffee.  But, we prefer to make it a bit thicker and use it as a replacement for traditional whipped cream.  It's great with a bowl of blueberries for dessert or a bedtime snack.  It's also pretty tasty with other toppings on your pancakes or waffles too!

Recipe – Meat Sauce

meat-sauceThis colourful and flavourful meat sauce can be used for multiple purposes.  It can be applied directly as a topping for spaghetti or other pastas (for a gluten-free meal, use brown rice pasta).  If you want to add some beans, it can be used as a base for making chili.  Or, add some water to make it more liquid, throw in some cooked rice or barley (or quinoa) and use it as soup base.

Healthy Salad Dressings Are Easy To Make!

Healthy Salad VeggiesEating a salad can be a great way to get some of the essential nutrients that your body needs, reduce your caloric intake and stay healthy!  The usual salad ingredients are full of fiber and water.  As a result, they'll cause you to feel a wee bit fuller so you’ll likely need less of a main course to complete your meal.
However, those store bought salad dressings can quickly sabotage your health and fitness efforts.  They're quite often full of unnecessary (hidden) sugars, fat, chemicals and preservatives.
So, for years now, I've been experimenting with various recipes for making my own dressings.  They're usually quite simple, quick to put together and not all that much harder than simply reaching into the fridge for that store-bought bottle, but MUCH healthier.
