Dear Blog-ary: I Love Upper Body & Core Training!

Dear Blog-ary,

Is it really week three? I can hardly believe it!
By the end of this week, I’ll be half way through my 6-week progressive Training Session. One exciting new development – last night I handed in my signed registration form for the 5K Salmon Run next week! I’m feeling mixed emotions as it is my first ever 5K race. Hopefully it will motivate me as I prepare for November’s Bear Mountain 10K. But, tonight’s session wasn’t as much about running as it was about upper body strengthening.
I especially love upper body and core workouts! Now, before you roll your eyes in disbelief, let me tell you why I love it. In the past I’ve never seen myself as an exceptionally strong person physically. I think it partially has to do with being small in stature. Standing my tallest at 5’2.  I think more than my size, pregnancy has affected my core muscle strength profoundly. After my third pregnancy, I found it was harder to “bounce back” physically than I did after the previous two pregnancies. I wasn’t used to my body’s limitations since giving birth.
Since I began training with Alter Ego Fitness, over a year ago, I have been amazed at how much stronger I feel! My upper body and core strength, in particular, have improved considerably. Seeing and feeling the results of my hard work is great incentive for me to keep pushing hard and  helps me to put everything I have into upper body work outs.
I get just as much out of work outs now as I did a year ago. I am stronger yes, but every class challenges me! Noticing my improvement, Loreli has given me new goals to help me build and test my strength even more. It may seem like just a simple thing, but I am so proud to now reach for the heavier blue kettle bell after working with a lighter pink one for so long! . . . Kirsten Wolf

  1. I love working out (and having clients workout) with stability balls. You work every muscle a lot!
