Fall Back Into Fitness

Every year right about this time, the end of a busy summer season, people start to think a bit more about settling into a sort of routine.  The kids are back in school and, for the most part, family holidays are over until the Christmas season.  School and extracurricular activities for the kids will keep some families quite busy.  While I agree that keeping them active and involved, in stimulating activities that help them to evolve and grow, is very important, that shouldn’t mean that you neglect your own health and fitness.  There should always be time for you too!  A one hour fitness class, two to three times a week, really isn’t that hard to fit into most schedules.  It may just take a little extra planning and preparation for you to “fall back into fitness”.

September is the perfect month to refocus and re-energize as you strive to meet your fitness goals.  It’s also the perfect time for you to get out and enjoy the crisp fall weather!  The cooler temperatures make it a more comfortable time to take your workout outside.  Personally, I prefer exercising outside all year long.  But, for those that find a gym more comfortable in the cold of the winter or the hot of the summer, this time of year is ideal for getting outside.

As the temperatures get cooler and the days get shorter, our bodies may start to go into a sort of “hibernation” mode.  Our internal bodies slow down which means our metabolism (so keen in reducing or losing body fat around the middle) also slows down.  So, you may have to adjust your eating habits too.  Proper nutrition plays a integral part in building, and maintaining, a healthy lifestyle. What you eat gives you energy, so you need to make sure that you’re fueling your body with the right foods.

And, as the sun rises later, and sets earlier, our internal clocks also register that we should rise later and go to bed earlier too.  Alas, that’s not usually an option for most people.  Our internal clocks want us to get more sleep or rest, and we can’t, so our bodies are under a little more stress!  Who needs that? No one.  But, one way to handle it better is to get an appropriate amount of fresh air and exercise.

As with most things in your life, your level of fitness is largely the result of choices you’ve made regarding your daily nutrition and exercise habits. So, why not start now to cultivate some healthy, positive, habits that will carry you through the Fall and into the New Year?

Why not “fall back into fitness” by joining one of Alter Ego Fitness Experiences outdoor boot camp classes?  You’ll find they’re a group of fun, supportive people that will challenge you to not just show up but to work to your full potential.  You may feel even more comfortable joining a group if you do it with someone you already know.  So, bring a friend and do it together!

Not sure if a group fitness class is for you?  Perhaps you’d prefer the more private option of working with a Personal Trainer to get started.  Everyone has different goals, from weight management to healing injuries, or simply getting in a good workout to increase your energy.  To make sure you begin on the right foot, arrange a free one-on-one session with Loreli to discuss your current level of fitness and set some short and long term goals.  Then, together we can set up a plan to help you “fall” into a safe and effective fitness routine.

Loreli With a WeightLoreli’s company, Alter Ego Fitness Experience, offers Personal Training, Group Fitness (boot camp) and YogaFit training options.
