Let’s Get Physical!

Let’s get physical, physical, I wanna get physical, let’s get into physical. Let me hear your body talk

Just like that quote from Olivia Newton-John’s song “Physical”, we want you to get physical.  We want you to get out, into the great and wonderful outdoors, and do something physical.  Tights, leg warmers and headbands are optional.  But, for the sake of your health, you should walk, run, cycle, play a sport or (our personal preference) join an Alter Ego Fitness bootcamp.

To maintain a healthy and fit lifestyle, you must get physical exercise. We offer a great program of progressive classes that can be adapted to any fitness level (couch potato to athlete) and we really enjoy helping others to reach their true potential.

With respect to the last part of the quote from the song, we also want YOU to “hear” your body “talk”.  Pay close attention to how you feel.  “Listen” to what your body is trying to tell you!

If your body (not your mind) is trying to tell you that you CAN do more, then do more!  That voice in your head may be saying “ENOUGH!”, but if you pay attention to how your body feels (your arms, your legs, your breathing), you may be able to answer back “Not Yet!” and do one more set of weights, one more lap of the track, or another 10 burpees.  The flip side of that is, if it’s your body telling you that you’ve done enough, don’t over-exert.  It may be time for a rest. You certainly don’t want an injury, from over doing it, to sideline you.

Your body may also be trying to tell you how it feels after eating certain foods.  Pay attention!  If you’re not fuelling properly, you can’t get the full benefit of your exercise regime.  And, if you’re eating something that your body can’t tolerate, you may even be doing your body harm and reducing the positive effects from your exercise.  We can help you with that too.  Our bootcamp Training programs also include a nutrition component that will assist you to develop clean eating habits and to determine what’s right for your body.

Remember, as Olivia said, get “physical” and listen to your body “talk”!  And, we’d like to hear from you. What do you do when your body tells you “enough”? Do you keep going, or come back another day? Please leave us a comment and tell us about your experiences.

  1. I am so glad i decided to “get physical” again! You know the story………hit middle age, now have a desk job, allowing myself to have more “treat days” than not and then ohhhh noooo what is that “muffin top” doing on me! So, off I went to Alter Ego Fitness Experience and I haven’t missed a session since March 2012. I am feeling so much more energetic, able to jog again, getting stronger and well the “muffin top” is disappearing. I have learned so much about healthy eating even though I thought I knew it already. I love, love, going to outside classes because the fresh air feels so good and hanging with the group and Loreli is fun and never boring!

    1. So excited to hear how much you’re enjoying the classes. Thank you for sharing what you enjoy. I’m happy to also say that you never back down from a challenge or an exercise – you do it all and you do it well! Your success, with your health and overall fitness, is a testament to the hard work! Working in a group helps too, right?
