Fall Back Into Fitness

Every year right about this time, the end of a busy summer season, people start to think a bit more about settling into a sort of routine.  The kids are back in school and, for the most part, family holidays are over until the Christmas season.  School and extracurricular activities for the kids will keep some families quite busy.  While I agree that keeping them active and involved, in stimulating activities that help them to evolve and grow, is very important, that shouldn't mean that you neglect your own health and fitness.  There should always be time for you too!  A one hour fitness class, two to three times a week, really isn't that hard to fit into most schedules.  It may just take a little extra planning and preparation for you to "fall back into fitness".

Exercise In This HOT Weather? You Bet, Just Be Careful!

Training In Heat TipsIn Victoria we're used to having awesome weather.  In fact, we can be smug about it and will often take almost any opportunity we get to share pictures of our good fortune with the less fortunate suffering through yet another snowstorm or thunder shower anywhere east of the ocean around our Island.  But, lately, we've been experiencing slightly more than our normal amount of beautiful, hot sunny days.  In fact, we've even been shattering records that have been around for over 100 years!  It's not that we don't LOVE it, but it can cause some concern for those not used to exercising outside in the heat this early in the year.  So, with that in mind, we'd like to offer some hints, tips and advice to keep you safe and healthy during your outdoor exercise.

There Is No Wagon!

Red WagonWhen a client has a "slip" or fails to stick with a planned course of action regarding their fitness and/or nutrition, they may often say that they've simply "fallen off the wagon" and will then promise to re-commit to a healthier lifestyle. The "wagon", in this scenario, symbolizes their perceived standard of where they think they "should be". The concept is that, as long as there IS a wagon there's also the possibility of either being on it or off it. The truth is, when it comes to your health and fitness, there is no wagon!

Health Is An InvestmentThe same as when you invest money in stocks, bonds, mutual funds and/or real estate to increase your wealth, when you sign up for any health and fitness program, you're making an investment in your health.  How much of a benefit you derive from that investment depends largely on your level of commitment.
