Five Roses - A Guide To Good Cooking Cook BookMany years ago (more than I want to actually state here), one of the first purchases I made upon moving away from my parent's home was a copy of the "A Guide to Good Cooking" Cookbook that was put out by the company that produced "Five Roses Enriched Flour".  That's it in the picture.

My mom used one and she recommended it.  You gotta listen to mom, right?  As you can see, my copy has been well used over the years.  However, I came to realize that, although the food that I prepared using those recipes tasted really good, some of the recipes it contained were not really the healthiest for me.

Dear Blog-ary: I did it! Yes, I ran the Bear Mountain 10K!

Dear Blog-ary,

Although I've already written the "final" entry of my six week Training Session, and the "Can You Bear It?" running clinics, here I am again! I couldn't very well have reached my goal of running my first ever 10K and not write about it. So, here it is!
Nine weeks of running training, on top of my six week strengthening boot camp sessions, had prepared me as much as I had hoped to be for my race. During the time I spent training, I had many doubts and insecurities. I often wondered if it was a good idea to make the Bear Mountain 10K my very first 10K event. It is, after all, promoted as "Canada's Hardest 10K".  But my drive to persevere helped me overcome my fears. I wasn't about to stop until I had reached my goal. The race would be a true test of my abilities and proof of how far I've come.

Santa Shuffle – 5K “Fun Run” & 1K “Elf Walk”

Santa Shuffle 2012

Alter Ego Fitness is once again participating in the local Santa Shuffle. This will be our 4th year!  Last year, we had 19 participants sign up on our teams and we're really hoping that we can exceed that number.

Please consider joining us as we support this fundraising event for the Salvation Army. It's a great time and is always a LOT of fun!

You can choose to do either a 1 KM "Elf Walk" or the 5 KM "Fun Run".
